ABOUT JACK HUNT'S KARATE CLUB

Jack Hunt's Karate Club is a family business, which has been owned and operated by Jack Hunt, since we opened in 1987. Our studio is located in Stillwater, MN. We offer all ages martial arts classes which provide adults and children an avenue to keep physically fit, and an opportunity to participate in an athletic event as a family. We provide quality instruction for all levels of students from absolute beginners to advanced levels. Our karate and kick&box classes maintain an uplifting non-judgmental environment for students to develop their skills, get a good work out and have fun.
The style of martial arts we teach is a mixed martial arts based on Tae Kwon Do and American Kickboxing. Our program incorporates kickboxing techniques and traditional karate. We have incorporated power and strength moves into the traditional karate techniques, creating a mixed martial arts curriculum.

OUR FACILITIES
Our studio includes: 2 large open classrooms with high ceilings, mirrored walls, floor mats, locker rooms and a lobby for viewing classes. We have professional karate and kickboxing equipment for training including a boxing ring, speed bag, jumbo ball, wavemaster pads for striking.

Jack Hunt
Owner, Karate/Kickboxing Instructor
Jack Hunt is a 5th-Degree Black Belt and an accomplished competitor with over 30 years teaching experience. He grew up on St. Paul’s East Side and began his martial arts training in Korean Tae Kwon Do. He was 16 when he took his first karate lesson at Jhoon Rhee Karate. By age 17, he was an assistant instructor and manager at the studio. The owners of the Jhoon Rhee Studio in St. Paul developed the National Karate Schools.
Jack earned his Black Belt in 1981 under the instruction of Mr. Larry Carnahan (9th Degree Black Belt). After achieving Black Belt, Jack was hired to instruct full time at National Karate. He instructed at the Minnetonka, Brooklyn Center and Maplewood locations from 1981 to 1987.

In 1987, Jack moved to Stillwater and opened his own National Karate location. In 1997, Hunt felt it was time to explore new techniques in teaching martial arts and broke from the National Karate chain, changing the name of his school to Jack Hunt's Karate Club. He added spin and jump kicks into the curriculum and introduced a kickboxing program along with family classes.

Jack competed extensively and is well known for his jump kicks, spin kicks and speed in sparring. He earned multiple first place and grand champion awards in sparring and forms. He used his expertise to develop the Karate Club's unique mixed martial arts curriculum. He has trained many of the regions top martial arts competitors. At age 49, Jack is in top physical shape and continues his martial arts training and teaching.
