GOLD BELT ![]() |
The average student usually achieves gold belt within 6 lessons. At the Gold Belt level the student works on speed and accuracy with kicking and punching combinations (similar to shadow boxing). Pad kicking is introduced in the classroom to develop strength and power. X-Ray paper kicking is also practiced more frequently to increase control and speed. More basic self-defense moves are learned at this level and practiced with partners. |
GREEN BELT |
After reaching gold belt, it takes the average student about 2- 3 months to test for green belt. At this belt level the student works on pad kicking, combinations, self-defense, and forms (traditional karate). Sparring is introduced at green belt level. Sparring gives students the chance to practice techniques learned. It is a great form of cardio exercise which develops self -defense skills, and reaction skills. By green belt level the student has learned control and is ready to spar safely. We allow only light contact above the waist. Control and blocking are emphasized. There is no contact to the head and all sparring is done with full safety equipment. In addition to sparring we are introducing foam weapons in green belt and above sparring classes. The foam weapons will be taught with full safety equipment and include foam swords and foam Nunchaku. |
